Sunday Savings

The round up for the week of where to find the great deals and freebies.

I noticed this week that My Precious Pennies has some great freebies listed. They are hard to come by right now as my freebie list The Free Shoppe has been quite slow with finding them.

Lets start with Albertsons this week. Remember though, starting on Wednesday they will have a new sale going on.

I went in this week to pick up a few things and I saved quite a bit as I usually do. Since they take competitors coupons, I used one of my 5.00 off of 50.00 from the Entertainment book. I highly recommend getting an Entertainment book. They cost around 20.00 depending on where you live and they save you way more than they cost. I’ve already used 4 5.00 off coupons and that has saved me 20.00 exactly what I paid for it. You can usually get free shipping or some other kind of discount.

Albertsons is running an add for every 4 boxes of selected Kelloggs Cereal you can get them for 1.75 a box and if you have the coupons for 1.00 off of each box then you can get them for 75 cents a box. Also, General Mills is running their special. They seem to run one to two times every month. Right now for participating items every time you spend 20.00 you get 5.00 back. I purchased 4 packages of cookie dough, and four boxes of cereal. I had coupons adding up to 5.50 so I got all of it for 9.50. The register didn’t take it off though so I had to stop by customer service to get my 5.00 back. It really pays to check your receipt.

I know there are people out there that think coupons are a waste of time but that’s wrong. I went from 55.00 to 32.00 using coupons. That’s a savings of over 20.00 that’s not including what I saved from buying when something is on sale.

Safeway:
Here is an Oregon Deal:
Quaker Chewy Granola Bars are $2.99, buy two get three free. At the Keizer SAFEWAY there is a coupon machine right there with the granola bars with $1.00 off two boxes coupons.
10 boxes of granola bars (buy four get six free)
$11.96 ($2.99 x 4)
- 5.00 (-$1.00 x 5 coupons)
- 2.00 (SAFEWAY doubler)
$4.96 for 10 boxes of granola bars, $.50 per box. From the SupersaversinSalemOregon emailing list.

If you live in a state that doesn’t double coupons like I do, You should be able to use 10 coupons for 1.00 off each and get all of them for 1.96. There are Quaker coupons that you can get at the coupon clippers. Not sure if you can get them by Tuesday though. We’ll have to watch and see what the add is going to say next week.

See More Safeway Savings at The Super Coupon Girl. Wow she did well last week. It’s always good when you make money buying what you need.

Fred Meyer:
I briefly looked at the ad and didn’t see anything that would help me and their ad comes out on Sundays. Here is a deal The Super Coupon Girl did last week. You’ll have to keep up on her blog to find out how she saves this week coming up.

Walgreens:
All I know is that with a coupon the toothpaste I like to use is on sale. So maybe I can go to Walgreens to get free toothpaste.
You can check out Coupon Cravings
Later this week you will find more details from Walgreens at: Sisterly Savings, Keeping the Kingdom First and The “Cent”sible Sawyer and “Cents”able Mom.

Rite Aid:
GARNIER FRUCTIS Shampoo, Conditioner or Stylers Price: $2.99(After $2.99 mail-in rebate/on-line rebate, your final price is Free!) Add 1.00 coupon to that and you make a 1.00.

CVS:
CVS is not local to where I am. I am jealous of those that live near one because making money at CVS seems to happen all the time. They also have a survey program where you can earn gift cards to spend in their stores. It is just too good to be true. So you can use Coupon Cravings, Keeping the Kingdom First and The “Cent”sible Sawyer and “Cents”able Mom.

Publix:
I don’t have a Publix either. I found some savings advice for you at the Coupon Saving Family

Target:
Now I looked through the Target ad and I don’t need anything. I’m stocked up on everything. I did notice Cheer is on sale and it hardly ever goes on sale so I already switched to a cheaper brand. I love Cheer as a laundry detergent, but I’m out to save my family money now. I did give up Latte’s before before I gave up Cheer so that says a lot about Cheer. I have Attention Target Shoppers in my RSS feeds in outlook so I saw that there is a place on-line that lists when stores are doing their deals. Here is Targets, but she did warn that they might switch it. It is called Deal Beacon. Oh and to let you all know, Target has marked down the boxes of Huggies Supreme that were 29.99 to 25.15 or something like that and they might go down cheaper Monday. Great savings on diapers.

WalMart:
We don’t even get an ad for WalMart so you can go to Mommy Snacks for WalMart savings.

Hot Shoes from Pedi Ped

Cold cold cold. I am so cold here in my house my fingers are turning white. So when I saw in my e-mail that hot shoes are on the market I started to warm up. Anything to get my mind off of how cold I am. So, if you are in one of those cold places let’s look at some sandals for our little ones.

I have posted a few times about how much I love Pediped and how wonderful their pediped flex is. Today I’m going to show you their new spring line.
Here is the press release:
Hot New Summer Sandals Highlight Pediped™ SPRING SUMMER 09 Collection
Henderson, NV – - (January 2009) – - pediped’s Spring Summer 09
Collection boasts more sandals than ever. Sandals are a footwear staple during
hot summer months and pediped™ is ready with sandals for every day and for every
occasion. Little ones will be styling in their pedipeds which provide comfort
and support that many sandals lack.
Standout styles include:
Giselle
for the fashion forward with its trendy multi-colored polka dots
Brady for
rough and tumble boys who continue to play in their sandals as they would in
their closed toed shoes
Harvey for the littlest ones looking for summer fun
The pediped™ footwear summer sandal collection is both attractive and
functional – a combination moms LOVE to see.

Here are some pictures:
This is the Abigale in pink and green. Abigail comes in three different color skews and is available for 32.00. This shoe has a soft leather sole made of a double layer with some padding for extra cushioning. I like that they fold completely in half. Abigail also comes in the flex which is going to have the hard sole for our outdoor walkers.
The next shoe to be shown on this mommy blog is the Addison. The Addison is also a Pediped original. This means that it comes in the sizes 0 to 24 months. It looks like this is going to be one of the spring shoes in the flex. If you go to purchase shoes the new shoes are not yet available. They are going to be ready to buy in February.

The Giselle style can currently be found as a Mary Jane and has been translated into in a stylish sandal in both brown and white. This shoe is known for its versatility to go with just about any outfit dressy or casual. The Giselle Sandal will retail for $38. The Giselle Sandal is not pictured.
Don’t worry the boys aren’t left out in this new line to come out. Do you read me and feel like your reading an advertisement? I think in another life I was in advertising. ;-) Anyways back to the shoes. YES, I could have a blog just about shoes and why I like or don’t like them. The boys will have Brady a navy blue and orange leather sandal that has just enough coverage to protect the toes of active little boys and my boy has been active since the day he was conceived while still allowing for airflow to keep feet cool. Brady will be available in February and will retail for $38.
Picture this, a nice warm day on the beach with your kids and your feet in the sand. Ahhh, warmth. Can’t you feel it with me? It’s never warm enough here for sandals. At least not in my opinion.

Fitness Friday

Posting about my fitness. I went to the doctor last week and the scale was 151. I went to the doctor this week and the same scale was 150. Now, this could be due to water weight. I had lighter clothing on (except I didn’t because I had my sweater on and my phone in my pocket). So I’m taking it as I lost one pound this week.

Whenever I go over to the Wii Fit moms page it really makes me want to get a wii fit. I know my family could use some more exercise and what a fun way to get that done.

My Weekly Food/exercise journal:

Monday

We went to play date with MOMS Club so my kids played while I ate. YUM, I came home and worked on Bloggers Give while they took naps.

Tuesday

We stayed home and I worked on Bloggers Give, played with my children and did very well with my diet.

Wednesday

The kids started to go down hill with a second day of staying in doors. Oh man. I gorged on some chocolate that my husband got me for Christmas. Yummy, but not good for those love handles.

Thursday

We went to the none-existent story time for MOMS Club. I was very sad that it was canceled. It was so cold and after getting everyone in the car, I had to go somewhere else so we didn’t spend another day in the house. We went to the outlet mall and I got some much needed pj’s for my son who grew a whole size practically over night. We also stopped by KB Toys and picked up a ton of stuff at their going out of business sale. My son’s birthday is in two months so I had to stock up. So I got exercise by shopping. Moms, Paul McKena Says that any movement counts as exercise. Remember that. The rest of the day was a wash because I was stressed out and my husband came home with COOKIES. So yes, guilty glutton me at all of them. I think my husband had a few, but I ate the rest.

Friday

I did some baby wearing today. I’m testing a new baby sling for a company to review. I’m not having much luck with it. I think I need a smaller size, but I’m going to watch the instructional video before I give up. I was in shock that the scale said I lost anything but I’m taking it and running with it in hopes to lose more.

Happy FF everyone. I’ve got a new giveaway to work on posting.

Aloha Friday Pets?

Kailani says “In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.”

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

My Question:

Do you have any pets?

We tried having a cat, but have always had a dog. Now the dog wanted to play with the cat, but the cat wanted nothing to do with the dog. I think we had a bum cat because the cat had no personality. I had a cat before and they have lots of personality, this one would curl up in a ball and play dead. Now, we have General Jack O’neil the German Sheppard.

See Kai Run Giveaway for Bloggers Give

I have joined up with the start up team for Bloggers Give. While I’ve been working on different things to help increase traffic I have also been contacting companies for donations. See Kai Run is the second company to say yes, and the first one to offer a giveaway on my site too.

See Kai Run is a very popular shoe brand for first walkers and beyond; with good reason too. They have the softest leather soles that are hard enough to learn to walk in but so easy for little feet to bend. It is recommended that first shoes are completely bendable, as close to the natural foot as possible. The natural foot is the absolute best, but who is going to let their kid walk on the floor of stores. YUCK!

Other Features include:
Product Features
Handcrafted from butter-soft sheepskin leather
Flexible
rubber sole
– healthy for developing feet but sturdy enough for outdoor
play!
Generous width and wide toe box for plenty of wiggle room!
Available
with breathable leather lining or cozy faux-fur lining
Side closure

They have added styles from the Eleven, See Kai Run and Smaller lines to their sale items. Save up to 25% on some of your favorite styles. Shop early for best selection!

Did I mention these shoes are stylish on top of being excellent shoes to purchase.

They also have their own giveaway going on

BloggersGive

Bloggers Give is a program set up by bloggers for bloggers to use to give to charity. It is very simple if you are a review blogger or a giveaway blogger. All we are asking that you do is ask for one more product and that product is going to be used to give to a predesignated charity. You can always go over to BloggersGive to find out who the current charity is or what is specifically needed by the charity. The Center for Courageous kids is accepting anything and everything. So please help us help others. You could also cold call or email companies to ask for donations. This is a great PR opportunity for bloggers and companies.

You have three days to get in touch with me. I sent you an e-mail. Congrats.

A historical Day

If you are a card dropper you are probably seeing this everywhere. Today we welcomed a new era. I’m so excited about President Obama. I mean, even if you didn’t vote for him there has to be some excitement about our First Black President. I hope that is politically correct to say it that way.

I love Obama and I didn’t even vote for him. There was one tiny reason that I didn’t vote for him and I’m not trying to stir up controversy either. Yes I am against abortions, but I could still vote for him, then I found out he supports partial birth abortions. That means if the baby is born after the abortion is performed, they kill it. I can’t sign up for that and my husband and I both felt that voting for him would mean we support this, since this is one of the first things he is going to sign.

That aside, he is such a great speaker. He does represent change. I watched his speech today and I was impressed. My children watched his speech today. My daughter said “more”. Side Note, the girl likes to watch TV and I have been limiting her TV.

I know that politically people disagree. My mom says he’s going to fail. He’ll never get re-elected. He won’t accomplish all the things he wants in the time he has. I think he will, and if he doesn’t people are still going to love him. He represents a new hope for our Country. Just that hope should bring people around. The economy is tanking and the whole CPSIA is going to make it even harder for the little man, but we can turn things around.

I also feel that Obama represents more than a political party. People are viewing him and his wife as celebrities. My husband was reading MSN and he said there’s a story today about where President Elect Obama ate today, oh and there was a story of where he went yesterday too. If there weren’t so many cynical people in the world I think we could be looking at another Kennedy dynasty. Michelle dresses so classic and her daughters are so cute. Obama looks like he adores his family. I mean, it could be for show, but the way he cuddled with his wife as he was about to be sworn in; the man looked almost nervous and giddy at the same time. How exciting for him and his family.

We will be “re-making America” and the Economy needs “bold and swift” change.

I believe in change.
