I am terrible about posting winners from my contests. I do contact the winners and send out the prizes. When a prize doesn’t make it to your house I do my best to give you something else out of my own pocket. I hope you are all understanding as right now we are stuck at our house under almost two feet of snow.

I have contacted all the winners so far and the only prizes that I still need to mail are the Prepare your heart for Christmas – sitting waiting to be mailed. It’s all packed up.

Queen of the road. I think I’m just going to send it through Amazon and keep my copy. My son spilt coffee on it.

We haven’t seen UPS for over a week. You would think we live in the middle of no where.

National Security Mom – Giveaway

After 2001 whenever I hear a plane flying over my shoulders cringe and I feel worried. Panic sets in and I try to find the plane overhead. I can’t help it. The attack was so real to me and I didn’t know anyone that was on any of those planes. People watched their tv for weeks and I’m sure there are others that still worry. The terrorist attack changed how America views the government and our own safety in our borders. I still believe in our government, we are free.
Reading National Security MOM opened my eyes to my fears. When we live our life in fear the terrorists win. We need to be strong and independent and live without fear as we are trying to teach our children the same things. They model our behaviors and we should live the principles we wish to instill in them. I love the title of Chapter Sixteen and I’m going to quote it. “We must be the change we wish to see”.
Gina M. Bennett writes from her experience as a government employee working against terrorism for 20 years while raising her family for 15 of those years she kept them separate. Now looking back she sees them as the same.

Meal Plan Monday!

Well, I can’t exactly make a grocery list because I’m not planning on leaving the house with all the snow on the ground. I might send my husband out for some milk. So we’ll be having whatever we can make from the cupboard.

Sandwiches
hot dogs
sausage and biscuits
pancakes
mac and cheese

Yep, I have enough food to get us through the snow. As long as the snow does not last too long. The weather people can’t figure it out.

You can save money by making a list and sticking to it. Coupons also save a lot of money. I have saved over 1,000 dollars in the past five months. I can’t wait to see what I can save during the next 12 months.

Snow Storm Coming

Well, no one can make up their mind what the weather will bring in the next week, but it is possible that you won’t be seeing me for a while. We always lose power living in a forest. With the snow already weighing trees down and the strong wind coming it won’t be pretty.
This picture is before the storm. Not too bad. We’ll see it could be nothing. You never know here in the Puget Sound Convergence Zone. (who really knows what that means)

Commercials of Empire Carpet

The phone number is one of the most recognized number because of that catchy jingle. I know you hate me now for singing to you and you’ll be singing it all day from now on too. I think I’m too young to know this one but the rainbow in the background is great.

The Empire Man was created to be the mascot of Empire in 1977 and I know him as an animated character that comes on during my favorite soap opera every day. He’s lifting up the carpet and then you hear the jingle. Well, he used to be a live action person as you can see in the above commercials. Did you know you can get bobble heads of the Empire Man. WAY COOL!!. I love bobble heads they make me laugh.

The company began in 1959 in Chicago where the cubs have dedicated a day to the Empire Man. Empire is still dedicated to customer service and an excellent product; raising the value of your home through carpet and windows. You can order carpet, laminate, hard wood flooring, windows and shower liners. Now, I saw shower liner and I’m thinking what, like the liner you can get at Target? No silly, I had to tell myself. This is the shower liner that would replace the entire bath sectional. I might be calling them when we decide to put our house on the market.

You know, when you are getting home improvement projects done, the easiest thing to do is have them come to you. When we had carpet installed we had everyone come to us. Most companies, Empire included will do a free in home estimate. Get the in home estimate and check out all of the samples. You could even hold the samples up to see if you like the colors. Sometimes you can even keep the samples to mull it over. You don’t have to leave your home to go to multiple places and the sales people usually know what they are talking about.

They also guarantee that their installers are there for you. If you have any questions while they are there then you can ask them and feel comfortable with the job they are doing. I wish we would have gone with Empire. The job we got was terrible. We learned our lesson and the installers barely spoke English. Next time we’re going with Empire. (or at least a company that has all of the same guarantees they do)
