HGTV – Giveaway

When I think of home improvement I think of HGTV and TLC. My favorite shows that I’m willing to admit that I watch are on those two channels. I really enjoy The Next HGTV Star. I love watching people make home improvements on their houses. I dream of all the things I can do to my house. My house needs to fall into a whole and someone needs to come in here and just start from scratch. But, I am very grateful with the state of the economy that I have a roof over my head and food on our table.

Tori Johnson, On behalf of HGTV, contacted me and offered me a chance to review the HGTV Home Design And Landscape Platinum Suite. What an honor it was to review!

This software is quite detailed. It is designed for every day average people. You install it on your computer and then you take pictures of what you want to improve in your house. Do you dislike your furniture but can’t buy new stuff. Want to see what colors would look better on your walls than what you have? Don’t have the imagination to visualize it? Look no further.

You can easily find information on how to use the software through their tutorial and direct links in the software to other website for help. One of the features I found extremely helpful was the paint calculator. There have been so many trips to and from the hardware store getting paint. My husband and I have no idea what we are doing when it comes to home improvement. This software is sure to save you time and money when it comes to making your own home improvements. You can even order the paint on-line if you like. I wish this software would send someone out to my house to do all of the painting for me as well.

    I have so many plans in my head, and pictures cut from magazines, but this would help me to incorporate my ideas. Since it also can help with landscaping…do you think it could get rid of the 30 year old MGB’s that my husband hasn’t gotten around to working on that “decorate” my back yard? HA!

    Like everyone else, we need to pinch pennies — made more difficult by having a large yard AND a Home-Owners Association which will give us significant grief if we don’t keep it “just so”.

    The ONLY waiver they allow is if we completely xeriscape, go with no-irrigation landscaping, which saves on yard maintenance AND water bills too!

    And xeriscaping is like any other “visual” design approach — it absolutely helps to have a “visual” tool so you can “discuss” your design ideas!

    ANY time we are reduced to waving hands and drawing pictures to communicate “no, I mean in this room we should try to do THIS!” we’re going to get nowhere fast, unless we have a graphic tool to handle the stuff that ~I can’t DRAW~! I thank you, my husband thanks you, my therapist thanks you, etc etc!

    We live in a house built in 1946. The last major upgrades were made in 1967, so you might say we are starting at square one. I have trouble visualizing how things would look. I watch most of the home design and renovation shows, but my lack of imagination still inhibits me. None of the rooms are configured like mine, so what works with one room will not work with my rooms. I am amazed at what Barry can come up with on his computer.
