This is the first year that we have already started shopping for Christmas. This is also the first year that we have ever had a budget where we are keeping track of receipts and seeing if we are sticking to a budget. We have decided to start spending a little on Christmas every month since we made our budget last month.
Thanks to Costco, and Fred Meyer was are staying on budget and getting getting some money back. Both stores have a membership where you get a percentage back of what you spend. You have to spend it in their store but we will no problem. I get all of my fresh produce at Costco. Saving Saving Saving that is what I like to do.
I’m going to have this post at midnight, but it won’t have the sponsors or the link back to MomDot until I get up in the morning.

That is our usual Christmas plan…with family. I think we tend to overspend on the kids.
I’m the same way!
I like the idea of keeping the receipts so you know exactly how much you’ve spent. I think we need to start doing that.
Costco is a life saver at the holidays
Yeah, I have it easy since I only have the 2 kids and no nieces or nephews (well, one nephew but he’s 19). Let me know how close to budget you stayed, I think you have a great plan!
I do yardsales all year
I can’t get a connection to momdot, is anyone else having trouble?
Costco is a great place to save for holiday shopping.
I am really trying to stick to a budget this year. In the past two years I have focused too much on how many presents I am purchasing for each person and the dollar amount instead of thinking about the cost to me and how much thought I am giving to the individuals and their gifts.
I use a savings account to save a little each month throughout the year and whatever I save is what I spend. It is really keeping things under control this year. What I don’t spend I just keep in savings and roll to the next year.
Good luck with your budgeting.
I agree that the warehouse type stores are great for buying gifts for the holidays.

I wish we had a Costco around here, sounds like a great store! I’m a horrible shopper, I’ve barely started.
To answer your question about MomDot, I saw that their host is working on the server, so hopefully it’ll be back up soon!
We don’t have Costco or Fred Meyer.

Sounds like a good plan!!!
Spending a little each month sounds like a great idea! I think next year I’ll divide everyone on my list into 12 months and shop that way.
Spending a little each month sounds like a good idea. I wish I would’ve thought of that sooner!!
I never realized that costco gives you a percentage back.
We use our Discover card and get cash back bonuses from it.
That’s a good idea to spend at places that give you cash back. I wish we had those stores.
Spreading it out each month is a great idea!
we don’t have those stores, but i wish we did!
Love those cash back programs. We paid for our trip to Disney by getting Disney dollar using their credit card. It’ practically free money – LOL!
Good luck with sticking to the budget. Sounds like you are doing great!
That’s really cool that you have stores that offer a percentage back when you shop there.
